If the railway would be effective to Langford, it will have to be double tracked at some point, so there can be a lot of trains going back and forth.
In my opinion, as half of it is being made into a “temporary” bike trail they could make it so it would be easy to be made into a railway at some point. With this long term goal in mind, in my opinion, they should be digging down to terra firma, instead of building it up on the downside, along Colville.
Perhaps another engineer should look at the trail, and give their opinion.
In my opinion, if they attempt to double track it in the future, they will have to tear it up and dig down to terra firma, so the railway doesn’t fall into the neighbours yard on the downside.

There are several initiatives working toward improving transportation in this region. Your comments regarding twinning the track are valid if this was to become a high use commuter corridor. The current structure of use between with respect to VIA and E&N is that VIA provides “intercity” services but not commuter or rapid transit services. For this reason one track will work because the frequency to begin with will be up to 3 runs from langford to Victoria return in the am, and same in the evening. Should this be successful who knows what could happen but it has taken long enough to get this far so I support taking the baby steps but lets at least take the steps. The trail is to allow multimodal transit. Some prefer to take their bikes others to walk. Imagine how quickly you could get to Langford with an electric bike! The trail is taking a frustrating amount of time and money also but look at the useage of the Galloping Goose trail. Options to the vehicle is the purpose. Should rail expand to include freight also, this may trigger your 2 track need. Its too early to say. I understand your frustration for waste. We have waited long and hard to get this train going more frequent and faster, we are getting there but still some to go. Thanks for your comment

I feel angry when I see that type of nonsense.
